I started working on it as an associate designer, and worked my way up to senior designer, and eventually principle designer.
Duties included:
- Created & fine tuned match 3-levels.
- Design new game elements & features, from concept to implementation.
- Provided documentation, & collaborated with leads and teammates during the feature development process
- Helped to modernize the game
- Standardize events for greater uniformity
- Identify areas for improvement across features.
- Eliminate unnecessary communication points
Modernization
As an older game, one of the challenges Cookie Jam faced was how to update its look & gameplay to appear more modern. In particular we worked closely with UI/UX to improve the pre & post level flow, main map, and level UI.
Old vs new main map, level, & pre-level screen

Post level flow before: 4 screens

Post level flow after: panda held a flag (or not) as needed, 1 screen

New Gameplay
We also experimented with updated more explosive game pieces.

Level Design
Below are some examples of levels I worked on. In total I made 105 levels during my time on Cookie Jam.
Note, these versions of the levels may no longer be playable in the live game as gameplay needs & goals have shifted during the 5 years I was there.
